Idyllic mountain lakes, lush alpine pastures, green forests and the legendary Dolomites are the background of this walk through three nature parks.
Hikes around the “Drei Zinnen” and the Trident offer breathtaking impressions of the Sexten Mountains. Relax in the attractive mountain town of Cortina d’Ampezzo, ‘the pearl of the Dolomites’, looking out to some of the most striking summits of the Cristallo ranges. Finish at the beautiful mountain lake: Lake Prags in whose crystal clear waters the whitewashed walls of the Seekofels Mountain, are mirrored.
Itinerary and Highlights
- Day 1 Arrive Niederdorf.
- Day 2 Alta Pusteria – Helm - Sexten (3 – 5 hrs, 8 – 13 km).
Transfer to Sexten, then take a cable car up the “Helm”. Hike along the “Karnischer Kamm” with views of the Sexten group of peaks which form an almost perfect sundial. Descend through the valley to Sexten. - Day 3 Sexten circuit walk (15 km – 5 hrs).
Start at Rotwandwiesen, an alpine pasture surrounded by peaks of the Dolomites. Walk to the Kreuzbergpass and Nemesalm before returning to Sexten. - Day 4 Sexten - Drei Zinnen – Auronzo – Misurina (6 hrs – 16 km).
After an easy valley walk you are suddenly faced with the “Drei Zinnen”, the most well-known rock formation in the Dolomites. End the day at Lake Misurina. - Day 5 Misurina – Passo Tre Croci – Faloria - Cortina d’Ampezzo (3 hrs – 6 km).
Transfer to Passo Tre Croci then hike through the Sorapis Mountain Range. The panorama is simply incredible – colossal rocks pushing high into the sky of the Monte Cristallo mountain ranges and the resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo with its unique position surrounded by the well known summits. - Day 6 Cortina – Nature Park Fanes Sennes Prags – Plätzwiese/Prags (5 hrs – 12 km).
Walk the largest Nature Park in the Dolomites, “Fanes Sennes Prags”, the most admired hiking area in Italy with its unusual flora and natural lakes. - Day 7 Plätzwiese/Prags – Pragser Wildsee – Niederdorf/Toblach (5.5 hrs – 13 km).
The hike in Prags Valley among dark-needled coniferous forests, the whitewashed rock walls of the mountains and crystal clear turquoise waters of the lake. From Pragser Wildsee return transfer to Niederdorf/Toblach. - Day 8 Arrangements end. Extend your stay with A TASTE OF VENICE
